Esther

The book of Esther has so many life lessons. Queen Esther was badass. She rose to the occasion, she prayed, she received the inspiration, she plotted, she executed the plot perfectly under immense pressure. Here is my version of Queen Esther in this particular style of illustration. Research comes first when I’m creating a character, especially a historic one. I wanted to imagine what Esther might be wearing when she was getting ready to execute her plan. Probably some of her finest clothes. I researched noble women/queen attire of Achaemenid empire times, and used those as elements of historic grounding and context. The rest is my vision of her, kinda out of time and space, more about the moment she was in, what was going through her mind, her feelings or even lack of. Perhaps just sheer determination and faith.
